Amanda Brugel
(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal that is known as the West Island. People who don't understand they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually, it is the West Island includes everything westward of Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel grew on Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. She wanted to become professional, however due to an explosive expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. After I became too big for my male partners I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher suggested she try to find a role in school's annual play. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the leading role of Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program and graduated from the program in 2000, earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both big and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale which was produced over the course of ten years.
